“Yuen Sek”

Alvin Liu, graduate of HKDI Higher Diploma in Product Design

Alvin Liu, graduate of HKDI Higher Diploma in Product Design, has won  “Red Dot: Best of the Best Award 2021” with his original design “Yuen Sek”.

 

“Yuen Sek” takes inspiration from the everyday Chinese dining experience to create a set of modern tableware that encapsulates the natural beauty of raw stones, taking into consideration form, function, and ergonomics. Each tableware set includes a soup bowl, a rice bowl, a plate, chopsticks, a spoon and a sauce plate to cater every detail of a dining experience.

 

“I am honoured to be recognised for my design and creativity internationally, and I take this as a motivation to further my study and career in product design,” said Alvin.

 

The outstanding design had achieved multiple accolades, including Gold Award (Cultural and Creative Design Category) of Wenzhou International Design Biennial 2020 and Bronze Award of Hong Kong Smart Design Awards 2021.
